A Little background About Me

I’m the third person from the right – – the guy in the black pants.  To my right is my grandson and to my left is my wife of 47 years.

During my 40+ years in corporate America, I was engaged with the sales and marketing of complex, enterprise software solutions to the pharmaceutical and chemical industries. I’ve held numerous positions from hands-on chemistry to Marketing to Vice President of Sales.

I’ve watched the software industry grow from a curiosity to an indispensable part of our world during this time.

During one of my corporate leadership positions, I had the privilege of working with a member of the original MIT group that developed what has now become the Internet FTP. When I asked him if they had any idea what would become of their efforts, the simple answer was “no.” During those early days, they were working together as a team to bring together a new concept. They had no idea that their pioneering efforts would be akin to discovering “fire.”

In my practice, I let all my clients know that keeping an open mind, dedication, and focus can often provide value far above what one might suspect.

By far, the satisfaction I receive now from seeing the success of individuals I placed in the business become successful entrepreneurs.

During my off-hours, I grow orchids in my basement and practice fine cabinetry.

Work history

After receiving my degree in biology and chemistry, I implemented analytical instruments used for basic research in the prominent universities in the New York City area.

During the early 1980s, I developed an interest in computers to understand these instruments’ data better. At the time, there was relatively little in the way of data analysis. As a point of curiosity, I remember vividly explaining how a mouse worked to a group of scientists.

That moved into laboratory automation for drug discovery within the large pharmaceutical companies.

During the early 2000’s I then joined an MIT-based firm designing process simulation products used in the manufacture of pharmaceutical products.

Lastly, I sold software that used computers to design new drugs based on a fundamental understanding of human biology. The picture of Covid -19   is an excellent example of this software is used to visualize the virus.

I consider my current role as a career transition Coach by far the most rewarding.

After being downsized from a startup that didn’t start up, I joined The Entrepreneur Source.

I now use the skills I honed by working in the industry for 40 years to help people achieve the lifestyle, wealth, and equity they deserve.

Coaching highlights

Although most of my career has been in sales and marketing, I tell my clients that this is not a sales process. It is an education process. It is also a soul-searching process.

Business ownership is certainly not for everyone, but for those who want to take control of their lives away from corporate America can be ideal.

Throughout the entire process, I try to describe the risks, benefits, and rewards. Since most people I work with are unfamiliar with franchising, a crucial part of my practice is enlightening people to franchising’s fundamental business drivers. They are, to put it mildly, quite different, and often counterintuitive.

I leave everyone with this thought:

If you are working for someone else, you are a cost. Somewhere someplace, you are on someone’s spreadsheet. We all know that corporations have an obligation and responsibility to reduce costs.

In the world of franchising, the franchisor is dependent upon revenue in the form of royalties for their primary source of income. That makes you a profit center, not a cost.

Costs get cut; profit centers get resources.

“I started with just me and one truck, working out of my garage. I now have four employees, and I am in a commercial space. The earnings potential is pretty well limitless at this point. I am busy. I do have to spend time away from my family just as I did before. But now, if I want to stay home and cook my kids breakfast, I can. On nice sunny days, if I want to cut out early to take the kids swimming, I do. I don’t just have weekends to choose from anymore.”
